چکیده

This research investigates the effects of snail shell-based hydroxyapatite (HAp) reinforcements on mechanical, wear, and selected physical properties epoxy-based composites. The exploitation these was aimed at assessing suitability efficiency developed bio-composites for adhesive biomedical applications. Snail shell wastes were sourced processed to obtain particles ˂20 μm. bio-derived hydroxyapatite-based epoxy composites produced using stir-cast method by mixing with resin hardener before pouring into moulds where they are allowed cure. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) X-ray Diffraction (XRD) carried out while evaluated. SEM images fracture surfaces also examined. results showed that enhancements occurred from addition shell-derived HAp in revealed most gave their optimum values when 15 wt.% reinforcement used. At this weight fraction, obtained which include 43 MPa maximum flexural strength, 40HS hardness, 40 J impact, 0.35 W/mK thermal conductivity, 0.07 wear index.

Thermal Property of Multi-Walled-Carbon-Nanotube Reinforced Epoxy Composites

In this study, epoxy composite specimens reinforced with multi-walled carbon nanotube filler were fabricated using shear mixer and ultra-sonication processor. The mechanical and thermal properties of the fabricated specimens were measured and evaluated. From the electron microscope images and the results from the measurements of tensile strengths, the specimens having 0.6 wt% nanotube content s...

Thermal Degradation of HDPE Short Fibers Reinforced Epoxy Composites

Thermogravimetric analysis was carried out to investigate the thermal degradation of High Density Poly Ethylene (HDPE) short fibers reinforced epoxy composites. Three composites with 5, 10 and 15 % by weight of HDPE short fiber composition were prepared using epoxy as matrix material. The HDPE short fiber used as reinforcing material into the resin helps in retarding the thermal degradation of ...

Development of AlN/Epoxy Composites with Enhanced Thermal Conductivity

AlN/epoxy composites with high thermal conductivity were successfully prepared by infiltrating epoxy into AlN porous ceramics which were fabricated by gelcasting of foaming method. The microstructure, mechanical, and thermal properties of the resulting composites were investigated. The compressive strengths of the AlN/epoxy composites were enhanced compared with the pure epoxy. The AlN/epoxy co...

Dental composites reinforced with hydroxyapatite: mechanical behavior and absorption/elution characteristics.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the behavior in water as well as the mechanical and surface properties of experimental composites designed for dental restoration. Studied materials were composed of a visible-light-cured monomer mixture as a matrix (bisphenol-alpha-glycidyl methacrylate with triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate or hydroxyethyl methacrylate) and either micrometric or nanomet...
